WIKI REFLECTION

For my final portfolio piece I had to create a wiki. I didn't encounter much challenges in creating the wiki itself - I found that it was fairly a simple procedure. However when working with the internet or rather with slow internet every thing seems to become overly tedious. As simple as embedding a link becomes the most difficult task because there are times when you must make more than one attempts at it before it is completed successfully. I found that because every thing was at hand (adding new pages, inserting links/videos/images/etc.) completing the wiki was just a matter of actually taking the time to complete it and having adequate internet service. Having those two things overcame that and any other problems I might have encountered. In time I see my wiki being a rather productive and entertaining site with lots of fun-filled interactive and educational games and activities. I also plan to fill the site with the best of the best works that are produced by my students and make it more of a information tool for their parents where they can log on to get some idea of what is being done in class. This will be an improvement of the site.

  1. A wiki can be a very interactive and informative instructional tool in and out of the classroom. It can be used to stimulate and motivate learners and also to provide reinforcement for classroom lessons. In the comfort of their own homes a wiki can provide pupils with fun interactive assignments, activities and games. Also teachers may use the wiki to keep parents abreast of what is happening in the classroom or school environment and to ensure that children are informed of home assignments through regular homework and project posts. I can see that a wiki can become a very important instructional tool for the technological minds we see in our children today.
